What do I need - skit or play?
Skits are usually 20-30 minutes. The advantage of a skit is that they usually require much less staging than a full length plan. In addition, costumes, lighting, stage and sound are much more flexible and thus skits may be staged in smaller areas like hotels, meeting rooms, dining halls, schools or even outdoors in parking lots. Most cities have portable stages available for rent for such programs.
Skits also work well for unexperienced actors since there is less dialogue to memorize and minimal stage directing. Skits may be used for school programs, mini-conferences, workshops, Eid events, interfaith dawah, fundraisers, teaching events for youth camps or retreats and Muslim Women events.
